Construction Documents <br />20052.02 / Orange County - Justice <br />Facility <br />26 0533.16 - 2 BOXES AND CABINETS <br />1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING <br />A.Receive, inspect, handle, and store products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 BOXES <br />A.General Requirements: <br />1.The Electrical Contractor shall provide junction boxes, pull boxes, cable, support boxes, <br />and wiring troughs as required by NEC and as otherwise indicated in the Drawings. <br />2.Do not use boxes and associated accessories for applications other than as permitted by <br />NFPA 70 and product listing. <br />3. Provide all boxes, fittings, supports, and accessories required for a complete raceway <br />system and to accommodate devices and equipment to be installed. <br />4. Provide products listed, classified, and labeled as suitable for the purpose intended. <br />5. Where box size is not indicated, size to comply with NFPA 70 but not less than applicable <br />minimum size requirements specified. <br />6. Provide grounding terminals within boxes where equipment grounding conductors <br />terminate. <br />7. Each outlet designated on the plans shall be provided with an outlet box. <br />8. In general, outlets shall be installed at the heights indicated. The Contractor shall examine <br />the plans of and coordinate with all other trades to assure mounting heights are correct for <br />the intended purpose. Assure that all mounting heights comply with the latest version of <br />ADA. Outlets installed at incorrect heights shall be relocated to the correct elevation at the <br />Contractor's expense. <br />B. Outlet and Device Boxes Up to 100 cubic inches (1,650 cu cm), Including Those Used as <br />Junction and Pull Boxes: <br />1. Use sheet-steel boxes for dry locations unless otherwise indicated or required. <br />2. Use cast iron boxes or cast aluminum boxes for damp or wet locations unless otherwise <br />indicated or required; furnish with compatible weatherproof gasketed covers. <br />3. Outlet boxes shall be 4" square, 2 1/8" deep unless otherwise noted. <br />4. Use suitable concrete type boxes where flush-mounted in concrete. <br />5. Use suitable masonry type boxes where flush-mounted in masonry walls. <br />6. Do not use "through-wall" boxes designed for access from both sides of wall. <br />7. Sheet-Steel Boxes: Comply with NEMA OS 1, and list and label as complying with UL <br />514A. <br />8. Cast Metal Boxes: Comply with NEMA FB 1, and list and label as complying with UL <br />514A; furnish with threaded hubs. <br />9. Junction boxes larger than 4" square shall be galvanized and without pre-formed <br />knockouts. <br />10. Boxes for Supporting Luminaires and Ceiling Fans: Listed as suitable for the type and <br />weight of load to be supported; furnished with fixture stud to accommodate mounting of <br />luminaire where required. <br />11. Boxes for Ganged Devices: Use multigang boxes of single-piece construction. Do not use <br />field-connected gangable boxes. <br />12. Manufacturers Recessed: <br />a. Steel City Electric Company <br />b. Metropolitan <br />c. B & C <br />d. or approved equal. <br />13. Manufacturers Surface: <br />a. Crouse-Hinds <br />b. Appleton <br />c.
