Accelerated yellowness. <br />10. Recoating. <br />11. Skinning. <br />12. Color retention. <br />13. Alkali and mildew resistance. <br />14. If test results show material being used does not comply with specified requirements, the <br />Contractor may be directed to stop painting, remove noncomplying paint, pay for testing, <br />repaint surfaces coated with rejected paint, and remove rejected paint from previously painted <br />surfaces if, upon repainting with specified paint, the two coatings are incompatible. <br /> <br /> <br />3.7 CLEANING AND PROTECTION <br /> <br />A. Cleanup: At the end of each work day, remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint <br />materials from the site. <br />1. After completing painting, clean glass and paint -spattered surfaces. Remove spattered paint by <br />washing and scraping. Be careful not to scratch or damage adjacent finished surfaces. <br />B. Protection: <br />1. Protect work of other trades, whether being painted or not, against damage by painting. Correct <br />damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing, and repainting, as acceptable to Architect. <br />2. Provide "Wet Paint" signs to protect newly painted finishes. Remove temporary <br />protective wrappings provided by others to protect their work after completing painting <br />operations. <br />a. At completion of construction activities of other trades, touch up and restore damaged or <br />defaced painted surfaces. <br />3.8 PAINT SCHEDULE <br /> <br />A. Exterior Paint Schedule: <br />1. General: Provide the following paint systems for the various substrates indicated. <br />2. All new exterior exposed metals are to be painted. <br />3. Ferrous Metal: Primer is not required on shop-primed items. <br />a. Full-Gloss Enamel: Two finish coats over primer. <br />1) Primer: Synthetic rust-inhibiting primer. <br />2) First and Second Coats: Gloss acrylic enamel. <br />B. Interior Paint Schedule: <br />1. General: Provide the following paint systems for the various substrates, as indicated. <br />2. Concrete Masonry Units: <br />a. Semigloss Enamel Finish: 2 coats over filled surface with total dry film thickness not <br />less than 3.5 mils, excluding filler coat. <br />1) Block Filler: High-performance latex block filler. <br />2) Undercoat: Interior enamel undercoat. <br />3) Finish Coat: Interior, semigloss enamel. <br />3. Gypsum Drywall Systems: <br />a. Odorless Eggshell Enamel Finish: 3 coats with total dry film thickness not less than 2.5 <br />mils. <br />1) Primer: White, interior, latex-based primer. <br />2) First and Second Coats: Interior, semigloss, odorless enamel. <br />4. Ferrous Metal: <br />a.
