Asbestos Abatement Guidelines and Policies <br />Page 01092-1 <br />SECTION 01092 <br /> <br />CODES AND REGULATIONS <br /> <br /> <br />1.01 REFERENCE SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />The contractor shall assume full responsibility and liability for compliance with all applicable <br />federal, state and local regulations pertaining to work practices, hauling, disposal, and <br />protection of workers, visitors to the site, and persons occupying areas adjacent to the site. <br /> <br />Unless modified by these project specifications, all specifications for stripping, removal, repair <br />and disposal work shall conform to the following specifications and standards, as applicable, as <br />if completely reproduced herein. <br /> <br /> <br />A. The following regulations published by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): <br /> <br /> 1. "National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants Asbestos," 40 CFR <br />Part 61, Subpart M. <br /> <br /> 2. "General Provisions," 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart A. <br /> <br /> 3. "Guidance for Controlling Asbestos-Containing Materials in Buildings" June <br />1985. (EPA # 560/5-85-024). <br /> <br /> 4. "Asbestos-Containing Materials in Schools," 40 CFR Part 763, Subpart E including <br />appendices. <br /> <br />B. The following regulations published by the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA: <br /> <br /> 1. “Occupational Exposure to Asbestos, Tremolite, Anthophyllite, and Actinolite; <br />Final Rules,” Title 29, Part 1910, Section 1001 and Part 1926, Section 1101 of the <br />Code of Federal Regulations. <br /> <br /> 2. “Respiratory Protection,” Title 29, Part 1910, Section 134 of the Code of Federal <br />Regulations. <br /> <br /> 3.
