Carolina <br />Orange County is seeking a qualified and experienced archaeologist(s) to conduct a survey <br />of cultural and. archaeological resources within the proposed Northern Human Services <br />Center Park. The information ~ will be used for siting future park facilities, and for <br />identifying areas of historic and cultural interest for interpretation. <br />The property is owned by Orange County, and. is located approximately 10 miles north of <br />Hillsborough on NC Hwy. 86, at and adjacent to, the existing Northern Human Services <br />Center. All three tracts can be accessed directly from NC Hwy. 86. <br />The site consists of: 9.28 acres at the Northern Human Services Center (NHSC), which <br />includes a former school building. and playfields; a 39.02-acre parcel adjacent to the <br />NHSC which contains a portion of an' existing pond; and a 12.22-acre parcel located on <br />the east side of NC Hwy. 86 directly across from the NHSC. The eastern tract, known as <br />the Vincent Property, is the site of a modest turn-of-the-century farmstead; a circa 1910 (- <br />house and a handful of associated outbuildings remain on the property in poor condition. <br />If your firm is interested in performingthis work, please deliver or mail, your response to <br />the Orange County Purchasing Department, Attn: Pam Jones, Director, 129 East <br />King Street, PO Box 8181 Hillsborough, NC 27278 to be received no later than 5 pm, <br />Thursday, October 2, 2003. <br />Please contact ERCD directly if you would like to visit the site in advance of submitting a <br />proposal.
