Project Start Date <br />(no earlier than July <br />1, 2020) <br />September, 2020 <br />Project End Date (no <br />later than June 30, <br />2021) <br />January, 2021 <br />Project Goals The project seeks to enrich our communities knowledge of the <br />Occaneechi peoples with speakers who are internationally known for <br />their expertise in the field. Funding for the project will enable the <br />Museum to offer small honoraria to the speakers, leading to <br />appreciation and potential further partnerships with indiv idual. In <br />addition, the speaker on Nativ e Plants may include a cooking <br />demonstration, so funding would also support supplies. Finally, the <br />ov erall project will promotes appreciation for the connection between <br />humans and the land, leading to potential land preserv ation and <br />sustainable use <br />Audience Description Intended audience are general public, historians, members of the <br />Occaneechi tribe, school children, and other interested parties. The <br />ev ents will be widely promoted and offered both through Zoom, and <br />later on the website as a recorded performance. The Dunmore lecture <br />on ghost stories will be just before Halloween, so it will be of interest <br />to families as an alternativ e to the traditional trick or treat, giv en <br />Cov id restrictions. <br />Location Description The lectures will be held online, using the Zoom platform. <br />Artist Description Stephen Dav is is the Associate Director & Adjunct Professor of <br />Archaeology RLA at UNC.
