How will you
evaluate whether or
not your goals have
been met?
W e will use sev eral criteria for gauging success in our FY21 public
programs, including:
• Approximating the range of program types that we offer in typical
years, such as talks, performances, art-making, wellness, tours, film,
and special opportunity collaborations.
• Prov iding programs that target the range of audiences we usually
engage, including kids, intergenerational families, univ ersity
students, adults, and seniors.
• Offering multiple programs that feature the art and v oices of BIPOC
and LGBTQ identifying artists.
• Establishing connections with new prospectiv e programming
partners in our local community.
• Increasing our familiarity with v irtual platforms for public programs.
• Attendance at our programs, aiming to meet or exceed at v irtual
v ersions of our programs the attendance lev els we typically see at in-
person v ersions of those programs.
• Positiv e feedback from participants about the content and formats
of our programs.
How do you promote
and publicize the
work of your
organization?
The Ackland promotes public programs in our marketing materials
(primarily brochures, posters, and postcards), in paid digital
adv ertising (on the Indy W eek site and elsewhere), and in content
marketing (sponsored interv iews with staff and artists on W CHL,
sponsored e-blasts with Chapel Hill Magazine and Indy W eek).
Because of our modest promotional budget, howev er, free and low-
cost promotional tactics are central to our promotional strategy. W e
distribute digital listings to local and regional outlets that post them
for free, continuously build a network of community promotional
partners to whom we send information and materials, and share
information with campus partners for co-promotion. Finally, we
promote our programs to our local media list; Chapel Hill Magazine in
particular has regularly cov ered our programming.
Please describe
efforts by your
organization to
generate revenue.
The Ackland Art Museum has sev eral rev enue streams (in addition to
support it receiv es from the univ ersity). Sales rev enue is generated
by the museum store, from some royalties, from the space
rental/priv ate ev ents program, and from fees for art education
programs. Fundraising efforts include working to secure exhibition
sponsorships, ev ents, annual appeals, a major gifts program, and a
robust membership program.
NOTE FOR
PANELISTS
Only requests for program/project funds need to submit a
program/project budget. Requests for operating funds should be
ev aluated using the organization's financial docs submitted under
"Organization Information."
Resumes of artists/administrators
AllisonPLathrop_CV2020.pdf
Hale_CV2020.pdf
2020.03.04_Turner_CV.pdf
Ziglar_Katie_CV_August_2020.pdf
DocuSign Envelope ID: FDB5F701-C5D2-47F7-B423-CF10418142E8
