Artist Experience Amanda v iews community building as an essential element to her <br />creativ e practice. She runs Obracadobra artist residency in Oaxaca, <br />Mexico which inv ites twenty artists a year to a creativ e sojourn at <br />Casa Colonial. The 2018 attending artists are represented in a <br />Risograph printed catalog, included in this application's publicity <br />samples. Amanda also founded Elf Fair, at The Carborro Arts Center, <br />which offers an annual v enue for artists and craftspeople to sell their <br />work. It is now in its thirteenth year. <br />George's curation and writing extends directly from the concepts that <br />fuel his experimental narrativ e films and v ideos. He sees curatorial <br />practice as a way to highlight common interests between otherwise <br />disparate creativ e communities. As director of Lump Gallery in <br />Raleigh, he has curated numerous pairings of solo shows in the <br />gallery's two adjacent spaces. Before becoming director, he curated <br />Up All Night, a group show which paired v ideo art and music v ideos. <br />Its purpose was to match well known art/v ideo pioneers like Gerald <br />Casale (DEVO) and Vito Acconci, with unknown and emerging artists. <br />He is editor of Blount Force Magazine (also included in publicity <br />samples) which is funded by Lump Gallery, with Andy W arhol <br />Foundation grant money. Blount Force is a tongue in cheek, art and <br />literary magazine that encourages submissions from anyone, <br />anywhere.
