Nonetheless, we expect at least 150 Ceramics students to
be inv olv ed. The racial composition of the classes is anticipated to
be: African American-10%; Asian/Pacific Islander-14%; Caucasian-
53%; Hispanic/Latino-16%; Nativ e American-1%; Other-6%.
Location Description In school buildings are open in the second semester, Delores Hayes
will v isit CHCCS high school Ceramics classes. If learning is still
taking place v irtually, then classes will take place online.
Artist Description Delores Hayes is a black potter who is originally from Durham, NC.
She is a graduate of North Carolina Central Univ ersity and has been
creating Art and Pottery in Durham since 2012. She is self-taught and
has been working as a full-time potter since 2013. Her work has been
featured at The Nasher, Claymakers, The Chapel Hill Art Gallery, The
Carrboro ArtsCenter, Green Hill, Burlington Arts Center, and The
North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrov e North Carolina.
Are you hiring
multicultural artists
with the requested
funds from this
grant?
Yes
For each multicultural
artist you intend to
hire, please list their
name, race, and how
much you plan to pay
them.
$3,000
How will the
project/program be
publicized and
promoted to reach
intended
participants?
Students will hear from their Ceramics teacher about the opportunity
to learn from Delores Hayes. If the classes take place in the schools,
the sessions will be a part of the regular school day. If the classes
take place v irtually, teachers will prov ide links so students can attend
the sessions online.
DocuSign Envelope ID: 26DDEFE9-5BC2-43EB-85F9-CAFA1534D29E
