Is the person in <br />charge of this <br />program or project <br />different from the <br />Authorizing Official? <br />No <br />W hat are you <br />requesting funding <br />for? <br />A specific program or project <br />Project/Program <br />Summary <br />NC AIA’s program is activ e in Rashkis Elementary, where it will <br />celebrate its fifteenth year of performances this year. NC AIA is <br />committed to serv ing all children, and with a focus on underserv ed <br />children in Durham, Chatham, Orange, and W ake County Schools <br />with high rates of students participating in the free and reduced <br />lunch program. <br />Grant funding of $3,000 from the Orange County Arts Commission <br />will help NC AIA reach 100 elementary school children in Rashkis <br />Elementary School in Orange County in 2020-21. Our program will be <br />offered as liv e online instruction for all fourth grade students at <br />Rashkis this year. <br />North Carolina Arts in Action’s, “Dream Big,” online program will <br />feature a 16-session v irtual Project Based Learning curriculum that <br />will teach students about notable women in North Carolina’s history <br />through dance and music while integrating social emotional learning <br />objectiv es centered on building children’s confidence, motiv ation, <br />resilience, persev erance, and excellence. Ev ery week, teaching <br />artists and musicians will lead children on a journey through history <br />while teaching them what professional dancers and musicians do. <br />Students will watch pre-recorded warmup v ideos, dance lesson <br />v ideos, and topic of study v ideos. They will complete a weekly <br />assignment to assess understanding and engagement. Our teaching <br />artists will prov ide indiv idual feedback to all students.
