Primary Organization <br />Description <br />Founded in 2010, FRANK is a contemporary fine arts gallery featuring <br />work by local artists and enriching community through exhibitions, <br />ev ents and arts education. The Gallery displays and sells the work of <br />more than 100 mostly local artists and its 22 member artists operate <br />the Gallery’s retail business and until the end of May 2020 the <br />nonprofit Michael and Laura Brader-Araje Community Outreach <br />Gallery also located in Univ ersity Place. The members also support <br />the Gallery’s financial v iability through membership dues and multiple <br />fund-raising ev ents. The Gallery has a Board of Directors and one full <br />time employee, Natalie Knox our gallery manager. Ov er the past ten <br />years the Gallery has presented both v isual and performing arts free <br />to the public. In 2019, more than 8,100 people v isited the gallery and <br />an additional 3,150 attended ev ents there. Approximately 70% of <br />these v isitors were from the Chapel Hill -Carrboro area, 15% were <br />from Durham, 10% from Raleigh/surrounding areas and 5% were from <br />outside the Triangle. Attendees and local participants of all races and <br />religions attended workshops, classes, salons, openings, artist talks <br />and fund raisers. Participating v isual and performing artists included <br />those with Caucasian, African American, and Nativ e American. Asian <br />and Hispanic heritages. In addition, the Gallery partners with many <br />local arts and community organizations on projects that particularly <br />benefit the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. FRANK also has a <br />v ibrant Karen Youth Art Group serv ing young Burmese artists who <br />were born in refugee camps in Thailand after their homes were <br />burned down by the Burmese (Myanmar) military. Through <br />associating with these young people on a weekly basis ov er a period <br />of eight years, FRANK has achiev ed a great measure of success. <br />One student is now in Guilford College and currently applying to law <br />school, another is studying Fine and Graphic Arts at UNC <br />Greensboro, others are contemplating a career in the graphic arts <br />while two are contemplating careers in the medical field Exposure to <br />artists from FRANK Gallery, writing an illustrated bilingual <br />book(Karen/English) about our local Transplanting Traditions <br />Community Farm and creating art portfolios and exhibitions hav e <br />furnished these students with confidence, excellent skills and <br />dreams enabling them to make career choices. <br />During FY19-20, will <br />your organization <br />receive operational <br />support funding from <br />the North Carolina <br />Arts Council or the <br />North Carolina <br />Department of <br />Natural and Cultural <br />Resources? <br />No <br />Organization's EIN 201121059 <br />Organization <br />W ebsite <br />www.frankisart.com <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 060238A0-9372-4481-BC57-ECCBD1F06A8B
