Primary Organization <br />Description <br />Puppet Show Incorporated (PSI) is a mobile puppet theater inspiring <br />imagination, social-emotional learning, literacy and community <br />through the global art of puppetry. Puppetry is one of the oldest <br />forms of oral story telling that keeps cultural traditions aliv e. A core <br />objectiv e of Puppet Show Incorporated is to impact div erse <br />audiences by bringing artistic and educational puppet programs to <br />them at low or no cost. PSI brings the magic of puppetry to groups <br />that might not otherwise hav e the opportunities to experience liv e <br />theatrical performances. Puppetry programs are ev idence based and <br />are aligned with K-12 North Carolina Teaching Standards of Healthful <br />Liv ing, English Language Arts, Theater Arts and Guidance. The <br />performances incorporate multicultural literature and art activ ities to <br />teach and reinforce social emotional learning, literacy and theatre <br />arts. <br />Mission: The mission is to preserv e, adv ance and promote the <br />performing, v isual and expressiv e art of puppetry. <br />Board/Staff. The Executiv e Director and Board Members are <br />comprised of career educators. Their combined teaching <br />experiences and research confirm puppetry’s effectiv eness in <br />teaching children skills critical to success in school and life. <br />Current Programs & Serv ices: The puppetry programs are currently <br />in a wide v ariety of settings to include pre-schools, schools, after- <br />schools, summer camps, PTA ev ents, scouting activ ities, <br />corporation’s family days, summer camps, festiv als, dev elopmental <br />centers/programs for disabled children, libraries and museums. <br />Teacher W orkshops on integrating puppetry arts into the curriculum <br />are conducted for preschool teachers, classroom teachers, school <br />counselors, nurses and social workers, undergraduate and graduate <br />education majors. <br />Kinds of people serv ed: PSI has serv ed ov er 2,983 children in <br />Franklin, Durham, Chatham, W ake, Orange, Person, Cumberland and <br />Guilford counties through paid programs. Data collected from the <br />grant funded free community puppetry programs from 2018-2020 <br />shows 941 children serv ed with age break down as follows: 10% ages <br />0 - 2 ; 43% ages 2-4 years; 37% of ages 5 - 7 and 10% ov er 8 years. <br />Minority participation was 22%. <br />During FY19-20, will <br />your organization <br />receive operational <br />support funding from <br />the North Carolina <br />Arts Council or the <br />North Carolina <br />Department of <br />Natural and Cultural <br />Resources? <br />No <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 41C3320E-65DD-4C33-8801-67C0B2A1E79A
