OC DSS -Hillsborough Commons Skylight Replacement Smith Sinnett / 2020054 <br />Hillsborough, NC Orange County <br /> <br />SHEET METAL FLASHING AND TRIM 07 62 00 - 6 <br />1. Where reglets are shown in masonry, furnish reglets for installation under Division 4 Section <br />"Unit Masonry." <br />H. Counter flashings: Coordinate installation of counter flashings with installation of assemblies to be <br />protected by counterflashing. Install counter flashings in reglets or receivers. Secure in a waterproof <br />manner by means of snap-in installation and sealant, lead wedges and sealant, interlocking folded seam, <br />or blind rivets and sealant. Lap counterflashing joints a minimum of 2 inches and bed with sealant. <br />I. Roof-Drainage System: Install drainage items fabricated from sheet metal, with straps, adhesives, and <br />anchors recommended by SMACNA's Manual or the item manufacturer, to drain roof in the most <br />efficient manner. Coordinate roof-drain flashing installation with roof-drainage system installation. <br />Coordinate flashing and sheet metal items for steep-sloped roofs with roofing installation. <br />J. Roof-Penetration Flashing: Coordinate roof-penetration flashing installation with roofing and <br />installation of items penetrating roof. Install flashing as follows: <br />1. Turn lead flashing down inside vent piping, being careful not to block vent piping with flashing. <br />2. Seal and clamp flashing to pipes penetrating roof, other than lead flashing on vent piping. <br />3.3 ROOF DRAINAGE SYSTEM INSTALLATION <br />A. General: Install sheet metal roof drainage items to produce complete roof drainage system according to <br />SMACNA recommendations and as indicated. Coordinate installation of roof perimeter flashing with <br />installation of roof drainage system. <br />B. Hanging Gutters: Join sections with riveted or with lapped joints sealed with sealant. Provide for <br />thermal expansion. Attach gutters at eave or fascia to firmly anchored straps spaced not more than 36 <br />inches apart. Provide end closures and seal watertight with sealant. Slope to downspouts. <br />1. Fasten gutter spacers to front and back of gutter. <br />2. Anchor back of gutter that extends onto roof deck with cleats spaced not more than 24 inches <br />apart. <br />3. Install gutter with expansion joints at locations indicated, but not exceeding, 50 feet apart. Install <br />expansion-joint caps. <br />C. Downspouts: Join sections with 1-1/2-inch telescoping joints. <br />1. Provide hangers with fasteners designed to hold downspouts securely to walls. Locate hangers at <br />top and bottom and at approximately 60 inches o.c. in between. <br />2. Provide elbows at base of downspout to direct water away from building. <br />D. Splash Pans: Concrete splash blocks furnished by the Prime Contractor. <br />E. Expansion-Joint Covers: Install expansion-joint covers at locations and of configuration indicated. Lap <br />joints a minimum of 4 inches in direction of water flow. <br />3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION <br />A. Clean exposed metal surfaces, removing substances that might cause corrosion of metal or deterioration <br />of finishes. <br />1.
