To tlate, them are <br />2]2 preschool children (ages OS)who ere on the waiting list This is an unduplicaletl cembinetl <br />count of those chiltlren who are on either the waiting Ilat for sevlces at the Department of Social <br />Services or Child Cam Services Association. <br />Representatives fiom the County ManageYa Office. Department of Sotlal Services, Orenge <br />County Partnership for Voung chiltlren, antl Chill Care Services Association have met b <br />develop a plan far eddressinq this issue. The chiltl Care Scholarship Fund is pmposetl tp <br />raise fundsto aupportthe needs of low-income wodirg families for quality child care. This will <br />enable families m have opporwnitiea for employment while their cMltlren beneFlt hom [he <br />experiences of a quality eatly childhootl etlucetional experience that ensures their school <br />readiness. <br />The Chlltl Care Scholarship Fund is sponsored by the collaborative effort of Orange County <br />Government. Omnge County Departnent of Social Services. Orange County Partnership for <br />Voung chiltlren (OCPVCj, and Child Care Services Association. The campaign goal is to raise <br />$100,000. The OCPYC will provide fiswloversight of the scholarship campaign. For at least <br />the first year, funds donated to fha campaign will be aubwntreded to Child Care Services <br />Associs0an. ' <br />The County'swntribution of$40,000 is provitletl asachallenge gran[to the community. This <br />contribution will fund approximately l5 families.
