Orange County Planning Board —Appointment Discussion <br /> 3 The Board discussed an appointment to the Orange County Planning Board. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 BACKGROUND: The following appointment information is for Board consideration: <br /> 6 <br /> NAME SPECIAL TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> BOCC At-Large Partial Term 03/31/2022 <br /> Appointment <br /> 7 <br /> 8 NOTE - If the individual listed above is appointed, the following vacancies remain: <br /> 9 None <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Tara May reviewed the material in the agenda packet. <br /> 12 Commissioner Fowler recommended Statler Gilfillen <br /> 13 Commissioner Greene said she liked Elizabeth Bronson, and she does not mind that <br /> 14 Elizabeth Bronson also serves as an alternate on the Board of Adjustment. <br /> 15 Chair Price took a hand vote: two commissioners supported Elizabeth Bronson and <br /> 16 three supported Statler Gilfillen. <br /> 17 Commissioner Bedford asked if the Board of Adjustment meets with any frequency. <br /> 18 Tara May said only as needed. <br /> 19 Commissioner Bedford asked if the other alternate could be identified. <br /> 20 Tara May said Nathan Robinson. <br /> 21 Commissioner Hamilton said there are not many people on that board over the age of <br /> 22 60. She said it is important to have age diversity. <br /> 23 Commissioner Greene said Elizabeth Bronson is from the Mebane-Cheeks area, which <br /> 24 will likely be important to the Planning Board because of future development. <br /> 25 Chair Price said the BOCC recently appointed two people from Cheeks, and there is one <br /> 26 is from Cedar Grove. <br /> 27 Commissioner Fowler said Whitney Watson is also from the Cheeks Township. <br /> 28 Commissioner Fowler said an architect would be knowledgeable related to land <br /> 29 development. <br /> 30 Commissioner Bedford said she supports Statler Gilfillen, due to his geographic location <br /> 31 in the County, and for his age. <br /> 32 Chair Price, and Commissioners Bedford, Fowler, McKee, and Hamilton supported <br /> 33 Gilfillen. <br /> 34 Commissioner Greene supported Bronson. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 14.
