During the autumn of 2004, Orange EMS & Rescue Squad split into two separate <br />entities, Orange County Rescue Squad in Hillsborough and South Orange Rescue in Carrboro, <br />A Memorandum of Understanding between the County and the two rescue squads continued <br />the existing collaborative efforts in providing special events EMS coverage and in the joint use <br />of squad-owned space to base EMS units. The agreement and memorandum provided for <br />ongoing collaboration between the agencies in the provision of EMS service at special events, <br />the leasing of space in Squad facilities far use by the County, and the provision of services and <br />equipment by the County for the Squads, The two squads have satisfactorily executed their <br />respective responsibilities under the agreement during the 2004-05 fiscal year, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The terms of the agreement call for the County to pay the Squads the <br />total amount of $4,588 per month for rent and utilities for station space. Funding to cover <br />continuation of this agreement for 2005-06 has been included in the department's FY 05-06 <br />budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreements <br />with Orange County Rescue Squad and South Orange Rescue Squad through June 30, 2006, <br />subject to final review by staff and the County Attorney, and authorize the Chair to sign, <br />
