RES-2021-030 19 <br /> RESOLUTION OF AMENDMENT <br /> A RESOLUTION AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE ORANGE COUNTY CODE <br /> OF ORDINANCES <br /> Be it Resolved and Ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina: <br /> WHEREAS, in 2019 the North Carolina Legislature passed and Governor Cooper signed into law <br /> Chapter 160D of the North Carolina General Statutes; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 160D combined the enabling land use legislation impacting cities and counties <br /> into a single statute; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 160D includes updates for local minimum housing ordinances such as the <br /> Minimum Housing Standards Ordinance first adopted in Orange County in 1984; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Orange County believes all renters in Orange County <br /> have a right to reside in rental dwellings that meet reasonable habitable standards and are free from <br /> unreasonable health and safety risks. <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDAINED, that the Code of Ordinances, Orange <br /> County, North Carolina, Chapter 20, Article II is hereby amended which amendments read as <br /> shown in the attached revised ordinance to effect Minimum Housing Standards in Orange County. <br /> This Amendment is effective upon adoption. <br /> Adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners this 1St day of June, 2021. <br /> By: Attest: <br /> Renee Price, Chair Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> [SEAL] <br />
