9 <br /> Chair Price said it is difficult topic to talk about, but that the Center has the County's <br /> support. <br /> c. 2027 World University Games Update <br /> The Board received information and an update on North Carolina's progress in the bid process <br /> for the 2027 World University Games, an event of the International University Sports Federation <br /> (FISU). <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The North Carolina Bid Committee (NCBC) is working to bring the world's largest event for <br /> student-athletes to North Carolina and specifically the Triangle area. In recent months, the <br /> NCBC has received requests for presentations to local groups interested in the bid and <br /> prospects for the Games. The NCBC has presented to the Durham Sports Commission (DSC) <br /> Board of Directors, the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board, the Planning and Legislative <br /> Committee of GoTriangle, and the Cary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. <br /> This item was tabled until the May 4, 2021 business meeting. <br /> 5. Public Hearings <br /> a. Public Hearing on FY 2021-2022 Annual Action Plan for the HOME Investment <br /> Partnerships Program <br /> The Board held a public hearing on the Annual Action Plan for the HOME Investment <br /> Partnerships Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Every year, state and local governments ("Participating Jurisdictions") that receive HOME <br /> Investment Partnerships Program ("HOME") funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and <br /> Urban Development ("HUD") are required to complete an Annual Action Plan that lays out how <br /> they will allocate HUD funds for the upcoming program year in order to address the goals and <br /> priorities in the Consolidated Plan. A summary of the draft Annual Action Plan for FY 2021-2022 <br /> is provided at Attachment 1. <br /> For FY 2021-2022, Orange County anticipates receiving the following HOME resources: <br /> FY 2021-2022 HOME Funds $ 378,743 <br /> FY 2020-2021 HOME Funds $ 200,000 <br /> (returned by CASA)* <br /> HOME Program Income $ 13,306 <br /> Local Match $ 85,218 <br /> Total $ 677,267 <br /> *CASA elected to return its award due to receiving a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit award, <br /> which filled their funding gap; thus, HOME funds were no longer needed. <br /> The above amounts are estimates and may be adjusted according to the actual allocation <br /> received from HUD.
