No shattering or splitting shall <br /> occur at the following energies 1'/2" nominal size - 24 ft-lb, 2" - 57 ft-lb, 4" - 86 ft-lb, and 6" <br /> 100 ft-lb). <br /> 3.2 PIPE FITTINGS <br /> Pipe fittings shall be subject to inspection and testing in accordance with standard manufacturing <br /> practice. <br /> 3.3 GASKETS <br /> Gaskets shall be tested, if required, in accordance with Section 3-4 of ANSI A21.11. <br /> 3.4 VALVES <br /> Valves shall be tested to double the design working pressure and test result submitted to the <br /> Engineer upon request. <br /> 3.5 OTHER MATERIAL <br /> Other material shall be subject to such testing as the Engineer may require should its <br /> acceptability be questioned. <br /> PART 4 -CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES <br /> All items of material and appurtenances shall be installed in accordance with best practice, <br /> manufacturer's instructions and to the following specifications or the Engineer's direction: <br /> 4.1 LOCATION <br /> Pipework shall be installed at the locations shown on the plans and to the position, alignment and <br /> grade shown thereon. Prior to beginning work at any location, the Contractor shall consult with <br /> the Engineer and Owner to determine that all rights-of-way, permits, or other legalities are in <br /> order. He shall familiarize himself with all conditions and/or limitations of such rights-of-way or <br /> permits and shall fully comply with all such requirements. All work shall be confined to rights-of- <br /> way or permit limits and any encroachment beyond such limits shall be the Contractor's liability. <br /> 4.2 CLEARING AND GRUBBING <br /> A. Clearing and grubbing, where required, shall be done prior to beginning of pipe <br /> installation. It shall be done in accordance with applicable portions of items of General <br /> Conditions and the following: <br /> B. The Contractor shall consult with the Owner and Engineer prior to starting clearing and a <br /> full understanding is to be reached as to procedure. The Contractor shall then conduct <br /> clearing and grubbing operations in strict accordance with these agreements. <br /> C. Clearing of trees and brush along the pipeline shall be carefully done so that no damage <br /> will occur outside of the limits of the right-of-way. Trees and brush must be cut by hand <br /> and trees felled within the right-of-way limits. Only trees that would seriously interfere <br /> with construction shall be cut down and all others shall be saved and protected.
