Original Lease Alan Dorman, 919-245-2627 <br /> PURPOSE: To review an amendment to the lease for 115 E. King Street to house the Public <br /> Defender's Office, extending its terms for another three years, and authorize the Manager to sign <br /> upon final review by the County Attorney. <br /> BACKGROUND: The County originally leased 115 E. King Street in October of 2019 for the <br /> Public Defender's Office, whose offices had been located in the John M. Link, Jr. Government <br /> Services Center. The original lease was for 18 months. This amendment will extend the lease <br /> term for another three years, ending May 31, 2024. The cost for the lease in the first year is <br /> $50,286 and includes a 3% escalation in years 2 and 3 of the term. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the lease in FY 2021-22 will be $50,411.and has been included <br /> in the FY 2021-22 Manager's recommended budget. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board review an amendment to <br /> the lease for 115 E. King Street, extending its terms for another three years, and authorizing the <br /> Manager to sign upon final review by the County Attorney. <br />
