5 <br /> 1 Quintana Stewart thanked the community and partners for their response to COVID-19. <br /> 2 She said the Health Department and Emergency Services implemented a strike team to visit <br /> 3 long-term care facilities in the early days of COVID-19 and helped with testing and PPE. She <br /> 4 said the state provided funding for infection prevention teams across the state, and there is one <br /> 5 such team here in Orange County that covers 9 counties. She said this team will be highlighted <br /> 6 on the weekly NC DHHS call on COVID-19. She said the strike team is also working with <br /> 7 vaccination clinics. She said there was a robust group of communicators and the messaging <br /> 8 was effective, and the education campaign was really strong. She said everyone worked <br /> 9 together, which was so encouraging. She said the county provided its 10,OOO11 first dose <br /> 10 vaccination last week. She said this is a great milestone, and there is great relief in the public to <br /> 11 receive vaccines. She said the process will transition from a drive through method, to indoor <br /> 12 clinics due to increasingly warm and stormy summer weather. She applauded everyone's <br /> 13 efforts in fighting COVID. She said she received this award for working with local organizations <br /> 28 and businesses to develop COVID safety plans. <br /> 29 Quintana Stewart said the department is very fortunate to have Victoria Hudson as the <br /> 30 Environmental Health Director. <br /> 31 Commissioner Fowler thanked Quintana Stewart for her leadership. She asked if the <br /> 32 Health department is doing targeted vaccinations for the Latinx community. <br /> 33 Quintana Stewart said yes, the Health Department has partnered with organizations <br /> 34 providing services to the Latinx community. She said the mobile unit ensures access, by going <br /> 35 out into the community to reach people more easily. <br /> 36 Commissioner Fowler said those who have showed up to clinics say it is because their <br /> 37 employers told them to come. <br /> 38 Chair Price said the website has translated information. <br /> 39 Commissioner Bedford asked about vaccinations for homebound residents. <br /> 40 Quintana Stewart said the Health Department will go to the house and give vaccinations <br /> 41 in the home. <br /> 42 Commissioner Bedford praised the Health department for its efforts over the last year. <br /> 43 Chair Price thanked Quintana Stewart. <br /> 44 Quintana Stewart introduced her board chairs. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 Erika Brandt presented for the Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB). She said the <br /> 47 AHAB is interested in exploring new housing strategies. She said the AHAB is meeting virtually, <br /> 48 only as needed, for high priority items. She said the AHAB reviewed funding applications in <br /> 49 August 2020, and met in February of this year to review outside agency applications. <br /> 50 Erika Brandt said prior to the pandemic there was a community meeting to learn more <br /> 51 about what AHAB does.
