She said she has <br /> 13 5 people in her family, and they were approved for a Habitat house last fall. She said a family <br /> 14 with a home is a lot healthier and happier. She said many families are interested in home <br /> 15 ownership, because rentals are expensive and unstable. She said many friends have asked <br /> 16 when Habitat will build more homes, and her family's healthy relationship with Habitat makes <br /> 17 people feel confident in Habitat's services. She said she supports Habitat's request for funding <br /> 18 they build stable and affordable housing. She said her family is happier and emotionally <br /> 19 stronger knowing they have a home. She said Habitat is an amazing organization. <br /> 20 Candace Midgett said she is a resident and homeowner at Crescent Magnolia in <br /> 21 Hillsborough, and she supports Habitat's application for HOME funds. She said residents <br /> 22 choose to live in Crescent Magnolia community for permanency, continuing support and <br /> 23 affordability. She said the expectation of a permanent home is reasonable because the <br /> 24 community has been established for people to age in place. She said continuing support is <br /> 25 important to people in Crescent Magnolia, and many have chosen to stay in Orange County has <br /> 26 there are excellent services for seniors. She said she lives in a strong community that supports <br /> 27 each other. She said these homes are affordable on a senior income, with help from Habitat <br /> 28 and Town of Hillsborough. She said Orange County housing costs often exceed 30% of one's <br /> 29 income. She said most residents of Crescent Magnolia are single women, and invited the <br /> 30 Commissioners to visit. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 A motion was made by Commissioner Bedford, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton to <br /> 33 close the public hearing. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Roll call ensued <br /> 36 <br /> 37 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Chair Price asked if an explanation of the local match could be provided. <br />
