Article 5: Uses 243 <br /> Section 5.21: Standards for Miscellaneous Uses <br /> (iv) Water Supply—source and capacity of water supply. <br /> (v) Wastewater Treatment Methods— provider and capacity of <br /> wastewater treatment source. <br /> (c) Habitats shall be identified and evaluated in the biological inventory <br /> required by Section 5.65.21.1(A)(2)(b)and are subject to the following: <br /> 0) An undisturbed buffer is required around the boundary of <br /> habitats of rare, threatened, or endangered species as shown on <br /> the biological inventory. Buffer width shall be determined by site <br /> evaluation in consultation with the applicant's biologist and <br /> County staff; <br /> (ii) Habitat enhancements as described in the biologic/iinventshall be made for a broad range of species to helpe <br /> loss of wildlife habitat during construction. Examplea. Preserving, planting, and maintaining a vave <br /> vegetation (also dead trees and snags); <br /> b. Installing structures conducive for Westin uch as bird <br /> houses or bat boxes designed and loca d for various <br /> species; or <br /> C. Creating wetlands; <br /> (iii) Conservation easements or other accept le means such as <br /> dedication to a public agency, or conser ancy or a homeowner's <br /> ssociation are required to protect we ands and other habitats <br /> ile insuring proper long-term mai enance; and <br /> (iv) Pro ' e barriers or fencing, and si nage at the edge of habitat <br /> buffer to prohibit vehicular an edestrian access. Limited <br /> access ay be allowed if pro sed in a sensitive manner for <br /> environme tal education pu oses. <br /> (d) Landscaping and Bu rs <br /> 0) Existing vegetate n sh I be preserved as indicated on the <br /> approved Iandsca Ian in accordance with the provisions of <br /> Section 6.8 of the Ordinance; <br /> (ii) Tree protection easur s shall be installed and maintained <br /> between all ar as of distu ance and trees to be retained as <br /> shown on th approved Ian cape plan. A detail of the tree <br /> protection arrier proposed s II be included as part of the <br /> Iandsca plan submitted with e application; <br /> (iii) Corri rs connecting habitats iden i ied in the biological inventory <br /> shall a preserved along streams, b ers, or other wooded <br /> ar s. If destroyed during construction, uch connections shall <br /> restored using appropriate plant mate 'als; <br /> (iv) Trees and stumps cleared for roads and bui ing construction <br /> shall either be used for timber purposes or sh dded for <br /> landscape mulch, composted, buried or otherwi disposed of <br /> BUT NOT BURNED. <br /> (v) Berms, fences and landscaping walls may be used i In plant <br /> materials for screening, provided such features are de i ned and <br /> located in harmony with other site features and functions, <br /> (vi) To minimize visual impact by blending architecture into the <br /> surrounding landscape, foundation plantings are required at a <br /> freestanding entrance signs; <br /> Orange County, North Carolina—Unified Development Ordinance Page 5-134 <br />
