3 <br /> RES-2021-033 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS, OBSOLETE, OR <br /> UNUSED COUNTY EQUIPMENT TO THE ENO FIRE AND EMERGENCY <br /> SERVICES,INC.DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, in 2019, Orange County purchased an Inmar rigid inflatable boat and <br /> Evinrude jet prop motor to enhance the swiftwater rescue capabilities within the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Eno Fire and Emergency Services, Inc. (Eno Fire Department) has been <br /> assigned this equipment and completed training to provide these rescue capabilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, Eno Fire Department desires to become certified by the North Carolina <br /> Rescue and EMS Association and requires ownership of the boat in order to become registered; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, County staff recommends that this equipment be donated to Eno Fire and <br /> Emergency Services, a fire district, which is a governmental unit as defined by North Carolina <br /> General Statute (NCGS) 160A-274(a), to be used for emergency rescue purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision of NCGS 160A-280 allows counties to donate to <br /> another governmental unit any personal property that the Board of County Commissioners deems <br /> to be surplus, obsolete, or unused; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision of NCGS 160A-280, the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners has caused public notice of this proposed Resolution to be posted at least five days <br /> prior to the adoption of this Resolution approving the donation. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners hereby approves the donation pursuant to the provisions of NCGS 160A-280 by <br /> Orange County to the Eno Fire and Emergency Services Department, Inc. of the above described <br /> personal property to be used for emergency rescue services. <br /> Adopted this 18th day of May 2021. <br /> Renee Price, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
