2223 <br />Commissioner Bennett moved that the Register of Deeds contact Representative John Umstead to <br />have Mr. Umstead seek legislative authority for ebanging the fee charged for the issuance of <br />birth, death and marriage certificates from fifty cents (50¢) to one dollar (111.00). Commissioner <br />Jones seconded this motion. Chairman Stanford called for a vote and the motion carried unanimously. <br />The following road petitions were submitted and the Clerk was requested to forward them to <br />the State Highway Commission. <br />1. Road (/1117 beginning at Perry's dairy half stay between Mebane Oaks black <br />top road & Buckhorn black top road. <br />2. Taylor Street and Ellen Place <br />The question of persons praticing faith healing for fee or reward in Orange County was brought <br />to the attention of the Board. It was decided to defer action on this question and refer same <br />to the ministrial associations and obtain their opinion before pursuing the matter further. <br />Chairman Stanford presented a letter signed by citizens on the Mason Farm Road. The letter <br />petitioned the Board to dead-end that section east (15-501)janetiend and that it be specified at <br />its west (Otey's Road) junction as being so dead-ended. <br />Commissioner Bennett moved that the petition be denied for the deed-ending of the Mason Farm Road <br />as it could cause an inconvenience to other citizens of that area, Commissioner Jones seconded <br />this motion. Chairman Stanford called for a vote and the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Walker moved that the county lease the Shoe Building at Pest Hillsboro as the `- <br />warehouse for the Surplus Food Program at a rent of 60.00 per month, The County Accountant was <br />instructed to inform Mrs. Shoe, the landlord, that the responsibility far keening the building <br />properly heated, plimibing in workable condition and the building in a good state of repair rest <br />solely with her. Commissioner Jones seconded this motion. Chairman Stanford called for the vote <br />and the motion unanimously carried. <br />Denny King, Commodity Supervisor, is to contract for the transporation of the Surplus Food and <br />be responsible for setting in motion the machinery in order to comply with the State requirements <br />so that Orange County might begin it's Surplus Food Program, fir. King was to work with the County <br />Accountant on this project. <br />The County Accountant was instructed to write Mr. Judson that the appeal made before the <br />Board of Equalization and Review for the reduction on the St. Anthony's Association property was <br />denied. <br />Commissioner Bennett moved that the Clerk write a letter of appreciation to the 1Selfare <br />Department for the excellent services rendered in connection with the certification of Welfare <br />recipients and other citizens who are eligible under the Food Surplus Program. Commissioner Jones <br />seconded this motion. Chairman Stanford called for the vote and the motion was unanimously carried. <br />Chairman Stanford presented to the Board the insurance else submitted by George Coxhead, agent <br />of New York Life Insurance Company. <br />Commissioner Bennett moved that the Board make a recommendation to the State Highway Commission <br />that the barracade be removed from the entrance of the Glenrnrood School until the construction on <br />Highway 15-501 has been completed. Commissioner McDade seconded this motion. Chairman Stanford <br />called for the vote and the motion was unanimously carried. <br />The County Accountant presented letters from Robert F. Chambless and William Howard Taylor, <br />both of which had erroneously listed their personal property tax. <br />Commissioner Bennett moved that the Tax Supervisor be given the authority to adjust and release <br />the error against the personal property tax listing of Robert F. Chambless and William Howard Taylor. <br />Commissioner McDade seconded this motion.
