He also said employees are currently doing curbside delivery, so the staff <br /> who were stationed at the desks are now doing curbside delivery. He said this allows for <br /> workforce flexibility. He said staff is working with Human Resources to determine what staffing <br /> will look like when the county buildings reopen to the public, and is thinking about where staff <br /> needs to be and where people can best be redeployed. <br /> Commissioner McKee asked how staff would accommodate the public who cannot, or <br /> do not want to, use this contactless option. <br /> Travis Myren said there would still be an in person option. <br /> Commissioner Greene said the Chapel Hill library began using a similar system, which <br /> allowed the librarians to assist patrons in other ways. She said there is a threat globally to jobs, <br /> with increased automation, but she does not believe in this particular case it would result in the <br /> loss of jobs. <br /> Commissioner McKee reiterated his concern for residents who cannot, or do not wish to, <br /> use this type of system. He said he has gotten calls from residents who are growing more <br /> frustrated with the lack of accessibility to assistance in the county. <br /> Commissioner Greene said she would not support the library removing in-person <br /> options for people who need it. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he ran into such a problem personally last week, and it is <br /> frustrating that county services are not fully available.
