Proclamation Recognizing Thom Freeman-Stuart <br /> The Board considered voting to approve a proclamation recognizing and expressing <br /> gratitude to retired Orange County Assistant Deputy Clerk Thom Freeman-Stuart. <br /> Commissioner Bedford read the resolution: <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> After almost 15 years of dedicated service to Orange County, Thom Freeman-Stuart retired on <br /> March 31, 2021. <br /> Following a career in the private sector, Thom Freeman-Stuart joined Animal Services in 2003 <br /> as an Office Assistant. He then became an Accounting Technician with the Department of <br /> Social Services in 2008. Mr. Freeman-Stuart joined the Board of County Commissioners' office <br /> as an Assistant to the Clerk in 2013 and was reclassified to an Assistant Deputy Clerk in 2017. <br /> Mr. Freeman-Stuart managed the advisory boards and commissions process, by recruiting <br /> volunteers, maintaining records, ensuring appointments were made in a timely manner, and <br /> acting as the liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and the advisory boards and <br /> commissions. Mr. Freeman-Stuart also oversaw the day to day financial matters of the Board of <br /> County Commissioners' office, and assisted in developing and monitoring the budget each <br /> fiscal year. Additionally, he served as the lead person for arranging special functions in the <br /> county, including advisory board volunteer and employee recognition events. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING AND EXPRESSING GRATITUDE TO <br /> THOM FREEMAN-STUART, <br /> RETIRING ASSISTANT DEPUTY CLERK <br /> WHEREAS, Thom Freeman-Stuart started working with Orange County in 2006 as an Office <br /> Assistant with Animal Services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Thom earned a promotion to Accounting Technician with the Department of Social <br /> Services in 2008; and <br /> WHEREAS, Thom transferred to the Board of County Commissioners; Office as an Assistant to <br /> the Clerk in 2013 and was later reclassified to Assistant Deputy Clerk in 2017; and <br /> WHEREAS, during his time in the Board of County Commissioners' Office, Thom did an <br /> exceptional job maintaining and improving the advisory boards and commissions process, as <br /> well as managing the budget and finances for the office; and <br /> WHEREAS, Thom provided excellent service to both internal and external customers, and was <br /> always available to lend a hand; and <br /> WHEREAS, Thom is regarded by his coworkers as a wonderful colleague and friend whose <br /> kindness and good humor will be missed; and <br />
