Margaret Lane, Suite 205 <br /> Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> April 16, 2021 <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> To: Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> Cc: Bonnie Hammersley, Orange County Manager <br /> Travis Myren, Deputy Orange County Manager <br /> From: Steve Brantley <br /> Director, Orange County Economic Development Department <br /> Subject: Progress Report on Medline Industries, Inc. <br /> Progress Report on Medline Industries <br /> On March 30th, BOCC Chair Renee Price &Vice Chair Jamezetta Bedford, County Manager <br /> Bonnie Hammersley, and Durham Tech President Dr. J. B. Buxton met virtually with Jesse <br /> Greenberg, Medline's Director of Public Affairs. In their discussion, the County received an <br /> update on the company's new Orange County medical products distribution facility that is now <br /> under construction along West Ten Road in the Buckhorn Economic Development District. <br /> Medline is making fast progress to construct its' new 1.2 million sq. ft. building, with all site <br /> grading work, external walls and roof installation now nearing completion. Making a capital <br /> investment of at least$68 to $80 million, the Company anticipates their LEED-certified facility <br /> is on schedule for completion by year-end 2021. <br /> Beginning in December, a series of employment activity will begin to fill the first of 250 <br /> initial positions. By year#5 (or 2026), Medline expects to create 250 new full-time positions, all <br /> with health care and related employment benefits, at an average salary of at least $35,468 per <br /> year. Local employment in Orange County will continue to grow to 500 jobs in 8 - 9 years, and <br /> top out at 600 jobs total in 10 years. <br />
