15 <br /> What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> Social Determinants of Health <br /> ➢ Completion of the 2020 Report, Orange County Board of Health <br /> Community Water Fluoridation Health Recommendation to Orange <br /> Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA). The report's recommendation <br /> was as follows: The Orange County Board of Health supports the <br /> continued fluoridation of Orange Water and Sewer Authority's water <br /> supply at the current levels as deemed effective for prevention of tooth <br /> decay and for promotion of good oral health. <br /> ➢ OCHD became a partner in the NC Care 360 network. NC Care 360 is <br /> the first statewide electronic referral network that unites healthcare and <br /> human services organizations and enables a coordinated, community- <br /> oriented, person-centered approach for delivering case management in <br /> NC. The main goal of the network is to make sure that North Carolinians <br /> are getting connected to the agencies that can help them and are <br /> ultimately getting the help that best fits their needs. <br /> OCHD went through a departmental reorganization. There are still 5 <br /> division within the department, but a new division, Community Health <br /> Services, will now house the Family Home Visiting, Family Success <br /> Alliance, and Health Promotion and Education Services programs. The <br /> first two were previously part of the Personal Health Services division <br /> which is now focused on clinic, nutrition, and communicable disease <br /> services only. <br /> ➢ OCHD Staff Member, Ashley Rawlinson, Healthy Carolinians <br /> Coordinator received a Results Based Accountability (RBA) <br /> Professional Certification from Clear Impact. This certification allows <br /> Ashley to guide the department and community partners with our RBA <br /> framework in strengthening capacity to create clear, measurable goals <br /> that will positively impact the lives of customers and communities that we <br /> serve. <br /> ➢ The Board of Health adopted new Environmental Health Rules. The <br /> Orange County Board of Health adopted local Rules in 1980 for the <br /> protection of the groundwater and the Orange County community that <br /> drinks groundwater. In July 2019, new permitting, construction, and <br /> inspection requirements became effective with the State. Since the local <br /> rules must be at least as stringent as the State per NCGS 87, Article 7, the <br /> State changes must be adopted except in places where Orange County is <br /> already more stringent. <br /> ➢ OCHD's Environmental Health Director, Victoria Hudson was <br /> awarded the William A Broadway Award for her outstanding <br /> contributions to the professional status of the Environmental Health <br /> Specialist during the 2020 North Carolina Public Health Association <br /> Conference. The award, presented by the Environmental Health Section <br /> of NCPHA, represents one of the highest honors the section can bestow. <br /> Victoria was nominated for her experience, leadership, and for working <br />
