This is fhe next step in the Sfillhouse Creek Watlande Reafnrafion <br />Project. <br />BACKGROUND: On June 5, the Board adopted a reaolutbn agreeing in principle b a <br />stream reamretion project for Sfillhouse Creek, from Me Government Services Center to the <br />Eno River. Thie project is needed to restore sf(eamside vegetation and minimize future <br />erasion along the stream segment. <br />The $50,000 project will be paid In full by Me N.C. Division of Water QUaldy (DWO) Wetlantls <br />Restoration section, and will conducted by OWO in conjunction wdh the USDA Neturel <br />Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Orange Soil and Water District. In oNer to <br />receive State funtling antl project complefion, a conservation easement must be grentetl <br />from the County to the State for a buffer area along the stream. The State has agreed fo <br />exempt the Government Services Center end Occnneechee village from the easement area. <br />The opton agreement acknowletlges tM1af fhe State antl the County are walking on the terms <br />of a conservation easement and provitles a timetable forthe State b secure fhe easement. <br />Ezewtion of the option agreement allows me State io encumberfuntls far the project, <br />consistent with the protect timetable.
