She said, in addition, there will be a racial equity 21-day <br /> 18 challenge for Orange County employees to challenge themselves to learn about racial equity <br /> 19 and what is going on in the community. She said this is a good start to learning about black <br /> 20 history. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 5. Public Hearings <br /> 23 a. Review of Zoning Atlas Amendment: NC Highway 57 Speedway Rural Economic <br /> 24 Development Area (REDA-CZ-1) — Rougemont Self Storage <br /> 25 <br /> 26 The Board considered holding a public hearing, receiving the Planning Board/staff <br /> 27 recommendation and public comment, closing the public hearing, and considered action on an <br /> 28 applicant initiated Zoning Atlas Amendment for a parcel within the Little River Township of the <br /> 29 County. Specifically, Darrell Chandler of Rougemont Storage Center, LLC, is seeking to rezone <br /> 30 approximately 7.37 acres of a parcel at 8927 Mile Branch Road to NC Highway 57 Speedway <br /> 31 Rural Economic Development Area (REDA-CZ-1). Approval of the zoning atlas amendment will <br /> 32 allow for the expansion of the existing self-storage business. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 BACKGROUND: <br /> 35 Staff has processed a zoning atlas amendment application proposing to rezone a 7.37 acre <br /> 36 portion of a 21.54 acre parcel, further identified using Orange County Parcel Identification <br /> 37 Number (PIN) 0910-23-7159 (hereafter `the Property'): <br /> 38 FROM: Agricultural Residential (AR); NC Highway 57 Speedway Rural Economic <br /> 39 Development Area (REDA-CZ-1); Flat River Protected Watershed Protection Overlay District; <br /> 40 and Little River Protected Watershed Protection Overlay District <br /> 41 TO: NC Highway 57 Speedway Rural Economic Development Area (REDA-CZ-1); Flat <br /> 42 River Protected Watershed Protection Overlay District; and Little River Protected Watershed <br /> 43 Protection Overlay District <br /> 44 The County approved the rezoning of the property/development of a self-storage facility in 2012, <br /> 45 with the public hearing occurring on August 27, 2012 and BOCC approval of the request on <br /> 46 November 20, 2012.
