Proclamation Recognizing and Expressing Appreciation to Nancy Grebenkemper <br /> 2 <br /> 3 The Board considered voting to approve a proclamation recognizing and expressing <br /> 4 appreciation to Nancy Grebenkemper for her devotion and service to the people of Orange <br /> 5 County through PORCH Hillsborough. <br /> 6 Chair Price introduced the item. <br /> 7 Commissioner Fowler read the resolution: <br /> 8 <br /> 9 BACKGROUND: In 2011 Nancy Grebenkemper and Claire Millar observed the impact of the <br /> 10 recession, the reality that residents having enough food to eat was a major issue in Orange <br /> 11 County, and that the number of people seeking food assistance at the Orange Congregations in <br /> 12 Missions (OCIM) food pantry was large and increasing. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Ms. Grebenkemper and Ms. Millar learned about PORCH Chapel Hill Carrboro, and with help <br /> 15 from three PORCH Chapel Hill Carrboro founders, Ms. Grebenkemper and Ms. Millar started <br /> 16 PORCH Hillsborough, which has since grown from three neighborhoods to over 30, and overall <br /> 17 donations have grown each year since 2011 and include businesses in the Meadowlands <br /> 18 Business Park donating food on a monthly basis.
