Work with NCDOT to promote funding of multimodal projects in rural areas to <br /> a greater degree. <br /> 5. Promote alternative transportation modes during peak hours via public-private <br /> partnerships through County TDM Program. <br /> 6. Continue studying policies for sidewalk construction and maintenance in <br /> County limits with a focus on better understanding the types of challenges <br /> faced by rural counties. Additional research and coordination with local <br /> jurisdictions and County agencies like Orange County Board of Education and <br /> Orange Asset Management Services may be required. <br /> 7. Improve transportation planning process by encouraging local schools and <br /> other public agencies to be more involved through public engagement. <br />
