He
said new capital deferment could forestall debt service increases in the future, and reduce
operating future costs.
Commissioner Hamilton requested a table explaining the various options and the
operating impacts.
Commissioner McKee asked if clarification could be provided on what the actual FY22
savings would be if the County deferred, not the total cost of the capital project. He said cutting
the southern branch library, for example, will not result in savings of$8.4 million.
Travis Myren said staff will put together a document explaining when the debt payments
will be paid, and how operating costs are affected.
Commissioner McKee requested that the document be easy for anyone to understand.
Chair Price asked if clarification could be provided on the deferred maintenance for the
schools, and how the numbers were determined.
Travis Myren said staff worked with the schools on a three-year plan, and how the
schools would time the projects.
Chair Price said the slide shows just one year, and asked if the schools are splitting this
60/40.
Bonnie Hammersley said yes, and this is year two of the three-year plan.
