23
Bonnie Hammersley said this action would affect the County's Triple A bond rating,
which affects the County's ability to get lower interest rates on debt.
Gary Donaldson explained the Triple A bond rating, and the factors that affect it.
Commissioner Hamilton asked if there is a strict threshold.
Gary Donaldson said there is not a strict threshold, but it is one factor. He said if there
was a sustained decline in the fund balance over 2-3 years, the County's rating would probably
be changed.
Travis Myren said 15-20% is the typical level for a triple A bond rating.
Bonnie Hammersley said the County is on the lower end of the rating, with a fund
balance of 16%.
Chair Price referred to interventions, such as eviction diversion, and how they impact the
County coffers. She asked if there is any federal or state relief.
Travis Myren said he is not sure if there will be a relief package.
Chair Price asked if the County will continue with the intervention programs, if there is
not relief.
Bonnie Hammersley said the County would focus on the pandemic response, and funds
will be reallocated from other locally funded programs if there is not relief from the Federal or
State government.
Identifying priorities, goals & strategies for the next year
Maggie Chotas introduced the Commissioners to Jamboard, which is a digital post-it
board for idea development. She asked the commissioners to use the following questions to
input ideas.
• Knowing what we know about the current reality, what priorities do we need to set?
• How do our priorities achieve our goal of disrupting racism?
• How can our priorities help us rebuild in a more equitable way?
• What goals and strategies would have the most potential impact in the priority areas in
the next year?
Maggie Chotas reviewed the Jamboard ideas:
orangeaanryaamycammlaelan¢raPrland¢azoz, o QfdGC m
« se,euyroMa ciea,name
- V endrylmmedlam
^n 'Or school suu Pon v<I^P close the
fagalnful1e Knowing w °^ benlBN¢a mat xhn"n zcnoolsPlan revenue
' mpi.ym nt Ciirrn.. r..
