This grant will help support a series of <br />yearlong human relations activities -including the Community Dinner and Pauli Murray Awards. <br />This year, in addition to regular Human Relations Month activities in February, the grant will <br />support a film screening of "An Unlikely Friendship", a saga of interracial friendship in the south, <br />and acommunity-wide book reading of Summer Snow by Dr. Trudier Harris, a Distinguished <br />Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. <br />There will be two screenings of the film, one in northern Orange and one in southern Orange, <br />both to be facilitated by Florence Soltys from the UNC School of Social Work and the Orange <br />County Advisory Board on Aging, who conducts the film interviews. <br />November 5, 2003 @ 7:00 p.m. <br />Horace Williams House <br />610 East Rosemary St. <br />Chapel Hill, NC 27514 <br />November 6, 2003 @ 7:00 p.m. <br />Northern Human Services Center <br />5800 NC 86 North <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Department has received grant funding in the amount of $1,500. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the information <br />presented. <br />
