188 <br /> Article 5: Uses <br /> Section 5.7:Standards for Recreational Uses <br /> (e) Buildings designated for storage and handling of chemicals and <br /> fertilizers shall be located a minimum of 100 feet from water sources, <br /> wells,ponds,and streams,or outside a stream buffer,whichever is <br /> greater; <br /> (f) Shelters for inclement weather and permanent rest room facilities shall <br /> be provided near the mid-point of play of each nine holes;and <br /> (g) No adverse impacts such as noise or glare shall extend beyond the lot <br /> boundaries. <br /> (2) Access,Circulation,and Parking <br /> (a) For a golf course proposed as a principal use,access to the site shall be <br /> limited to one main entrance and one service entrance per existing road <br /> frontage. If multiple uses are proposed with the golf course as part of a <br /> 11-3-such as additional <br /> recreational facilities and/or residential development,all such uses shall <br /> share a common interior access road,which may connect to existing <br /> roads more than once; <br /> (b) Parking shall be provided in accordance with Section 6.9 and <br /> landscaped as per Section 6.8; <br /> (c) Between all use areas,safe and adequate access for pedestrians <br /> including the handicapped is required.Conflicts shall be minimized <br /> between pedestrian and vehicular circulation.Caution signs shall be <br /> posted at all intersections of roads,cart paths,and pedestrian walkways; <br /> (d) Where a stream or other habitat crossing is unavoidable,a boardwalk or <br /> raised bridge with a free-span design shall be used to minimize adverse <br /> impacts.Other design solutions may be considered if disturbance is <br /> minimal and wildlife mobility is maintained;and <br /> (e) All vehicular and pedestrian surfaces shall be designed,graded,and <br /> landscaped as required by Sections 6.8 and 6.9 to minimize visual <br /> impact by blending into the surrounding environment. <br /> (3) Maintenance and Storage Areas <br /> (a) Maintenance and storage areas include,but are not limited to,the <br /> following: <br /> (i) Maintenance equipment storage and service areas; <br /> (ii) Solid waste collection/recycling sites; <br /> (iii) Golf cart parking and service areas; <br /> (iv) Chemical storage and handling sites;and <br /> (v) Service areas associated with a clubhouse,swimming pool,and <br /> tennis courts,or other amenities. <br /> (b) All such uses listed above shall be located and landscaped to minimize <br /> visual impact to public roads and adjacent properties; <br /> (c) Runoff from maintenance and storage areas shall be collected and <br /> pollutants filtered before release[See also 5.7.3(F)(2)];and <br /> (d) Facilities shall be provided for composting and recycling organic matter <br /> such as branches,clippings,and leaves from course and landscape <br /> maintenance and shall be incorporated into a comprehensive solid waste <br /> management plan. <br /> 13"Planned Development'is an obsolete term from the former Zoning Ordinance. <br /> Orange County,North Carolina—Unified Development Ordinance Page 5-50 <br />
