DocuSign Envelope ID:97137E10-BFC1-456A-A3B4-23CC394F67AD <br /> GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY AND ORANGE COUNTY <br /> SCHOOLS <br /> THIS AGREEMENT,made and entered into the 9'day of October 2020,("Effective Date")by and between <br /> the County of Orange, a political subdivision of the State of North Carolina, 405 Meadowlands Dr, <br /> Hillsborough,NC, 27278, ("County") and Orange County Board of Education, a not-for-profit corporation, <br /> located at 200 E. King St,Hillsborough,NC 27278 ("Provider"). <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> WHEREAS; Orange County(the County)has been working with Orange County Schools(OCS)to meet the <br /> demand for hot spots to facilitate remote instructions; <br /> WHEREAS; OCS elected to open schools under the Governor's Plan C, full remote instruction on August <br /> 17,2020; <br /> WHEREAS;OCS identified the need for approximately 1,000 additional hot spots of which OCS will receive <br /> 200 hot spots from the State leaving a balance of 800 unfunded hotspots; <br /> WHEREAS; the Orange County Board of County Commissioners approved a Budget Amendment in the <br /> amount of$120,000 to fund 800 hotspots for OCS at a cost of$150 each at its October 6, 2020 Virtual <br /> Business Meeting; <br /> WHEREAS; this will allow OCS to fulfill its remote instruction requirement and meet outstanding student <br /> requests from OCS families; <br /> WHEREAS; the additional $120,000 County appropriation is being allocated from the County's Round 2 <br /> CARES funding allocation; <br /> WHEREAS;the CARES permissible use under the U.S.Treasury Guidance restricts expenditures to COVID- <br /> 19 related purchases; <br /> WHEREAS;the County must report to the North Carolina Pandemic Recovery Office(NCPRO)key metrics <br /> and outcomes pertaining to CARES sub-recipient expenditures; <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the interests of the County that said program be assisted by the County and thereby <br /> enhance its availability to residents of the County, and said program addresses an important community <br /> human services need, as identified by the Board of Commissioners. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the above and the mutual covenants and conditions hereafter set <br /> forth,the County and Orange County Schools agree as follows: <br /> 1. Term of the Agreement. The term of this Agreement shall be from October 9,2020 to November <br /> 30,2021. <br /> 2. Scope of Services. <br /> a. Provider will provide services to the residents of Orange County, as outlined within and any <br /> amendments or revisions thereto which is attached as Exhibit A, which is incorporated by <br /> reference.
