ORANGE COUNTYBOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br />TREES OF STRENGTH MONTH <br />WHEREAS, Orange County, the state, nation antl wotltl mourn Ne loss of <br />thousentls of people who died in Me tragedies of September 11, 2001; antl <br />WHEREAS, Oange County reagn¢es the need to honor the heroic actions <br />taken by firefighters and police officers on September 11, antl always; and <br />WHEREAS, aervlce men antl women from Orange County have been deployetl <br />to pmtect antl tlefentl our nation antl many more stantl reatly M tlo so; antl <br />WHEREAS, trees have long been seen as an endutlng symbol of Ilfe antl <br />renewal; and <br />WHEREAS, trees enhance the appearance of our communttles; increase <br />properly value; provitle food and shelter for wiltllfie; retluce energy casts, sail <br />erosion and storm-water runoR; and, thus enhance our mental antl physical well- <br />being;and <br />WHEREAS, Orenge County's Master GaMener Volunteers and North Carolina <br />Cooperative Extension -Orange County Center etlucators are helping citizens <br />plant trees as an enduting remintlerof those lost September 11 antl tc honor <br />those who protect antl tlefentl us, es well as a means to celebrate our unhy as a <br />nation: <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD <br />OF COMMISSIONERS do hereby proclaim November, 2001 as "Rees of <br />Strength Monty' in Orenga County, anQUrge all cozens to commend Chia <br />observation. <br />This the 16'" tlay of Octoban 2001. <br />Stephen H.
