Sample Agreement TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough ]32-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-6501 <br />Durham 888-]331 <br />Mebane 33fi-22]~03t <br />PURPOSE: To seek authorization to begin the Chore Sernce program for the chronically ill <br />antl tlisabletl eltletly antl to enter into agreements with cleaning aeMCe providers. <br />BACKGROUND: The Master Aging Plan(GOa1111-A1b1)remmmanded the chronically 111 and <br />tlisebletl altletly persona multl benefit from heary housecleaning services on a monthly or <br />regular basis. It was priordized as one of the top issues to be funded kr FY2002 in the adopted <br />Mader Aging Plen. The purpose of Die program is to enable seniors to "age in place", to <br />remain In their own homes ae long as possible when they are nc longer physically able to <br />pedonn cleaning tasks. <br />This service woultl be provided ro 50 bw income clients asaessad by the Department on <br />Aging's ENercare Services stag antl offeretl on a allElrg fee basis. Other seniors assessed for <br />the neetl antl who court pay full cos[ woultl be refemetl to a roster of available heavy cleaning <br />provitlers. <br />Distinguishing seniors who only neetl help whh heary housecleaning from thcae who need <br />personal rare assistance from a certRetl nursing assistant shoultl result in three outcomes: 1) <br />serving the needs of a greater number of seniors, (2) promoting independence in seff~are, and <br />(3) providing greater job satisfaction for cedifietl nursing assistants who only provide personal <br />care. <br />In gMer m maintain the fiexlbility and quality necessary for the successful tlelivery o1Mis <br />program(like respite serdce), it woultl be pmtlem to use eeverel provitlem. Therefore, the <br />BoaN is being requestetl not only to approve the program, but to also authorize the Manager to <br />sign sgreemente wiN several housing Leaning providers. <br />FINANOIAL IMPACT: The BpaM of County Commissioners approved se0ng aside $13,500 for <br />the Chore Service program in me Master Aging Plan fir FV 01-02. <br />
