This Section includes the following: <br /> 1. Cavity-wall insulation, Type 2 insulation,where required. <br /> 2. Sound attenuation insulation, Type 2 insulation. <br /> B. Related Sections include the following: <br /> 1. Division 06 Section "Sheathing" for board sheathing over framing. <br /> 2. Mineral-Fiber Insulation: Insulation composed of rock-wool fibers, slag-wool fibers, or glass <br /> fibers;produced in boards and blanket with latter formed into Batts(flat-cut lengths)or rolls. <br /> 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. Plenum Rating: Provide glass-fiber insulation where indicated in ceiling plenums whose test <br /> performance is rated as follows for use in plenums as determined by testing identical products <br /> per "Erosion Test" and "Mold Growth and Humidity Test" described in UL 181, or on <br /> comparable tests from another standard acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. <br /> 1. Erosion Test Results: Insulation shows no visible evidence of cracking, flaking, peeling, <br /> or delamination of interior surface of duct assembly, after testing for 4 hours at 2500-fpm <br /> (13-m/s)air velocity. <br /> 2. Mold Growth and Humidity Test Results: Insulation shows no evidence of mold growth, <br /> delamination, or other deterioration due to the effects of high humidity, after inoculation <br /> with Chaetomium globosium on all surfaces and storing for 60 days at 100 percent <br /> relative humidity in the dark. <br /> THERMAL INSULATION 072100 - 1 <br />
