Place rigid protection board over the newly installed waterproofing membrane and adhere with <br /> adhesive or detail tape. Fit insulation neatly without large voids between the insulation and mem- <br /> brane or gaps between insulation boards. Boards shall be neatly cut at corners and transitions to <br /> prevent voids/gaps and to provide proper fit. <br /> H. Where the top of the waterproofing membrane follows a changing grade, the waterproofing and <br /> protection board may be stepped down. <br /> I. Place backfill as soon as practical. Use care during backfill to avoid damage to the waterproofing <br /> system components.Backfill must be performed using hand tools based on access to the work area. <br /> New grade shall be increased to be level with the surrounding grade with a slight slope away from <br /> the wall. <br /> J. Backfill should be placed and compacted in lifts,with hand tamping performed at each lift. <br /> 3.3 PLACEMENT OF PLASTIC SHEETING <br /> A. Remove large debris (rocks, bricks, and other abandoned materials) from the surface of the soil <br /> in the partially excavated space. <br /> B. Loose lay the sheeting over the surface of the soil starting at the low point and working upslope. <br /> Turn plastic approximately 6"up the walls. Stake the plastic down with landscape fabric stakes <br /> to keep it in place. <br /> C. Lap plastic sheeting a minimum of 4"in the direction of slope and tape the laps/perimeter. <br /> D. Inspect the sheeting and make repairs to any damages. <br /> 3.4 1NFILL OF VOID/HOLE IN MASONRY WALL <br /> A. Remove soft, deteriorated, or loose portions of masonry and clean debris from cavity. If <br /> necessary, lightly dampen the substrate just prior to application. <br /> B. Mix the repair mortar/water stop with clean water to obtain require consistency as recommended <br /> by the manufacturer.Do not overmix or utilize more water than recommended.Mix only as much <br /> product as can be placed within the working time. <br /> C. Place material firmly into the hole/void.Form/shape compound to allow for insertion into deeper <br /> portions of the void to ensure plug of opening before remainder of cavity is filled. Strike material <br /> flush with the interior surface of the masonry wall. <br /> D. Install in strict accordance with the manufacturer's requirements. <br /> 3.5 REPAIR OF CRACK IN MASONRY <br /> A. Rout/cut the mortar and brick along the path of the crack to form a square joint a minimum of 1/4" <br /> deep and a minimum 1/4", maximum '/2" in width.
