To approve the submission of an Application far Funding [o the N.C. Housing Finance <br />Agency for approximately $]5,000 in footling for the local Urgent Repair Prpgrem antl <br />author¢a fhe County Manager to submit the application on behe6 of the County. <br />2. To approve the Assistance Policy associated with the Urgent Repair Pogram and <br />authorize the Chair of the eoaN to sign the policy tlocument. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The N G. Housing Finance Agency has recently announcing the availability of funtls for [he <br />Urgent Repair Program (URP). Approximately $1.5 million is available statewide fcrthe Urgent <br />Repair Program antl the maximum allocation perjurisdiction Is $]5,000. <br />Urgent Repa'r Program <br />The stated obleclives of the Urgent Repair Program are: <br />L To assist very law-inwme homeowners with special needs (eltlerly t 62 years of age, <br />handicapped cr disabled, single parent, large households (five (5) or more persons), antl <br />families with children with elevated Mood levels between 10 antl 20 mcgltll; <br />2. To serve hpuseholtls with urgent repair neetls which cannot be met through oNer state or <br />federally funded housing assistance progrems; antl <br />3. To enable trail eltlerly homeowners, antl others with physical disabilifies, to remain in <br />[heir homes by providing essential accessibility motli6cations. <br />Specifically, funtls are usetl to alleviate housing wnditions that pose an imminent threat to the <br />life or safety of very low-income homeowners or the ability of frail or physically disabled very <br />low-income homeowners to remain in their homes independent of insiitutionel confinement. <br />
