Date of Incorporation (Month/Year): 10 1979 <br /> The Women's Center, Inc. doing business as Compass Center for Women and Families was <br /> incorporated on October 19, 1979 and has operated for over 39 years as a non-profit organization. <br /> During an organizational merger in 2012 the doing business as name Compass Center for Women <br /> and Families came into use. In July 2012 Family Violence Prevention Center of Orange County, Inc, <br /> (established in 2000) and The Women's Center, Inc. (established in 1979) had a successful merger. <br /> 2. Agency's Purpose/Mission (no more than afew sentences): <br /> Compass Center Mission Statement: Compass Center for Women and Families helps all people <br /> navigate their journey to self-sufficiency, safety, and health. We empower individuals and promote <br /> equal access to opportunity regardless of gender or economic status. Our services include career <br /> and financial education, domestic violence crisis and prevention programs, assistance with legal <br /> resources, and youth health programs. <br /> 3. Please provide a brief description of your organization's past achievements in carrying out similar <br /> projects and evidence of successful record of meeting proposed budgets and timetables (no more than <br /> 100 words). <br /> Compass Center's Domestic Violence, Self-Sufficiency, and Community Education & Civic <br /> Engagement Programs served 7,984 people last year, and trained 200 volunteers to work alongside <br /> staff to provide services. We have consistently met proposed outcomes, budgets, and timetables <br /> while growing our programs to meet the evolving needs of our community, especially the most <br /> vulnerable populations. Compass Center (formerly The Women's Center and Family Violence <br /> Prevention Center) have been leaders in Orange County's work to provide individuals with the tools <br /> they need to build safe, secure, and stable lives.
