Children play hockey at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough. Family activities include hiking at the local parks, attending UNC sporting events and supporting our local businesses. Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: None Boards/Commissions applied for: Orange County Planning Board (REQUIRES DISCLOSURE STATEMENT) Background, education and experience relevant to this board: I ve lived in the various areas of Orange and Durham counties over the 20 years i ve been located in the area, this has given me a perspective on growth, activity and needs of different parts of the county. I ve spent 15 years in the commercial construction industry in various roles and companies and have an understanding of zoning, planning and looking at the big picture of development. I spent 8 years in the US Army giving me the drive and organizational skills allowing me to focus my efforts in multiple areas like a career and service to my community. Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: Deeply interested in having a part in the future growth and success of Orange County as we will call this area home forever. I want to show my children how important it is to be involved in your community. Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: I bring a viewpoint influenced by life experiences and general beliefs. In my lifetime I've ranged from necessity of government subsidy in a low income family, I've lived around the world, served in the military and have worked in the construction industry for the past 15 years alongside a strong immigrant labor force. I understand the need for diversity, utilization of resources, the need for affordable housing and the things that make Orange County such a special place to live and work. I've lived in Chapel Hill, Efland, Mebane and Durham over the last 20 years so I've seen the growth and changes and would love to contribute to the future of our area.
