107 <br /> Page 2 of 2 Charity Kirk <br /> to learn what others are doing as well as present, discuss and push for new ways of doing things. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I want to become more locally involved and feel I could make a positive contribution on this <br /> board based on my past experiences and strong interest in this area. <br /> Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: <br /> Conflict of Interest: <br /> Orange County Planning Board (REQUIRES DISCLOSURE STATEMENT) <br /> Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br /> When I lived in Sebastopol California, I worked for an architect for a number of years gaining an <br /> understanding of the construction industry and local planning requirements and also organizing <br /> and running a LEED green building certification project. <br /> While completing my Masters in Industrial Design at NCSU I took a number of classes in <br /> Landscape Architecture (one specifically that looked at local planning requirements)as well as a <br /> course titled Biodiversity Conservation in Urban Regions. <br /> With these courses and prior experience I know how planning policy impacts our environment <br /> and the way we live. I am interested in helping guide this process to become more considerate <br /> of the environment and of a diverse range of human needs and experiences. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I would like to be a new pragmatic environmentalist voice on the committee. I am interested in <br /> helping craft planning policy that pushes for a more sustainable vision of the future. <br /> Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: <br /> I have a background in performing arts and design as well as experience going through the <br /> planning and building process while working for a green architect in California. I can represent <br /> the art and aesthetic side of planning grounded in an understanding of the concrete needs of <br /> planners, developers and contractors. <br /> Having been a small business owner myself, I have a sensibility to the requirements and <br /> demands of businesses.
