I hold a BFA and an MFA in Studio Art and Art History. I <br /> taught for 12 years at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where I also served as <br /> Department Head. When I moved to North Carolina in 1989, 1 worked for the N.C. Writer s Guild <br /> as a technical adviser. I taught for the Carrboro Arts Center, Durham Arts Council School and <br /> for Duke Continuing Education. I worked for 5 years in the Central Development Office of Duke <br /> University as their Public Relations and Publications person; then for 2 years as a Major Gifts <br /> Officer for The Duke College of Arts and Sciences, where my duty was to raise funds for the <br /> Departments and Programs of Fine Arts at Duke, including: Art, Drama, Film &Video, and <br /> Music. As a volunteer I was invited to train the Boards of the Carolina Wren Press and <br /> Claymakers, both of Durham, in matters of Board development and fundraising methodoligies <br /> for non-profits. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I wish to represent the Orange County Artists Guild, and it s 125+ members, in our community s <br /> efforts to create a unified coalition of arts organizations. I hope to help improve communications <br /> among, and opportunities for, all arts organizations within the county, state and region. <br />
