34
Page 2 of 2 Krishna Mondal
Commissioner Dorosin stated that voter confusion stems from the unique scenario whereby
during presidential elections years two Dist. 1 seats become vacant and voters need to vote for
2 rather than 1 person. Since candidates running in other commissioner races dona€TMt face
such a situation, the Dist. 1 candidate may feel that there is a system flaw that put them at a
disadvantage.
All candidates should get equal treatment before the law. I believe the goal of this BOCC
Elections Advisory Group to review potential options by which BOCC members are elected is an
excellent idea. I wish to contribute to developing an alternate method that provides equitable
treatment of the candidates as well as clear election practices that voters can easily understand.
Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board:
To this board I bring my years of experience of working with highly diverse voting populations not
only in our county but also across the state. People need encouragement to vote, especially in
the a€ceunexcitinga€[focal elections. They need to know how important their voices are in
making local decisions. My interactions with voters have made me adept at listening and
understanding their needs and encouraging them to participate in local government and
elections.
On a personal level, I am an Asian-American in a mixed marriage raising biracial children. In
Orange County, people with my demographic profile are increasing but are often not
participating in community processes. I can contribute my familiarity and knowledge of living,
working, and raising children in this community.
Conflict of Interest:
Boards/Commissions appointments:
Other Comments:
This application was current on: 12/21/2020 2:24:00 PM Date Printed: 12/21/2020
