Meet the Moment Art Activism Organizer in Chapel Hill <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> This would be my first board, but as a young person who has been politically active in the <br /> community and a woman in STEM/tech start-up space, I am a fast learner, dedicated, <br /> and thorough about my contribution to the community. <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Orange County Broadband Task Force <br /> Background, education and experience relevant to this board: <br /> While a part of my coursework at UNC was in Physics and Electricity, I have experience working <br /> at an impact investment firm that had a mandate to expand broadband infrastructure both in the <br /> U.S and abroad. As a part of this work, I was tasked with understanding the mechanics of the <br /> technology, research benefits and returns, model costs, and quantify impact. I also run a start-up <br /> that aims to increase local government participation, especially in rural areas, by combatting the <br /> digital divide. <br /> These experiences make me knowledgable and committed to the driving cause of this task <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I m a young person who understands the intersection of technology and community <br /> development. From working on affordable housing initiatives in the County, I see that access to <br /> broadband and technical development is a strong next step in a County like ours (one that has <br /> both urban and rural components).
