I am now retired, <br /> although still licensed. I have relatively extensive experience in the design and installation of <br /> infrastructure for residential and small commercial projects. As general contractor for new <br /> developments, working with and understanding the processes and costs for communication <br /> installations, power installations, sanitation systems, and transportation systems has been <br /> critical. As well, the projects I have worked on have often required municipal and state approval <br /> prior to execution. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I live between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. Broadband service in this area, albeit adjacent to <br /> one of the largest universities in the country, is virtually unavailable. It is no longer possible for <br /> members of a community to participate in work, recreation, finance, or government without <br /> broadband service. Orange County residents need broadband. <br /> Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board: <br /> I would hope, in a general sense, that I would be able to place cost/return in perspective with <br /> regard to a given broadband proposal, and to assist in educating the public with regard to the <br /> value of an improved broadband infrastructure. <br /> Conflict of Interest: <br /> I am professionally retired. <br />
