<br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior <br /> injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> <br />Arts Commission <br />2. The Orange County Arts Commission has received $166,511 in CARES funds from the <br />state to provide COVID relief for the Arts community. This grant period runs through <br />December 30, 2020. This budget amendment recognizes these funds outside of the <br />General Fund in the Visitor’s Bureau fund. (See Attachment 1, column #2) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br /> <br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br /> <br />Department of Social Services <br />3. The Orange County Social Services Department has budgetary changes to the following <br />programs: <br /> <br />• Community Giving Funds – receipt of $3,164 in Community Giving donated <br />funds for use in the annual toy chest drive. These funds shall be appropriated in <br />the DSS Client Services Fund outside of the General Fund for that purpose. <br />• Home Community Care Block Grant Funds – receipt of $13,657 in additional <br />Home Community Care Block Grant funds from Triangle J COG for COVID relief. <br />These funds will be used to provide in-home aid services for adult/disabled clients <br />in order to keep them living independently in their homes. <br />• Special Child Incentives – receipt of $4,642 in Special Child Incentives from the <br />state to enhance agency adoption services. These funds shall be appropriated in <br />the DSS Client Services Fund, outside of the General Fund, for that purpose. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds for the above <br />stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, column #3) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br /> <br />• GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br />AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of <br /> race or color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual <br /> orientation; national origin or ethnic background; age; military service; <br />2
